Chiropractic for Sports, Injuries and Performance
Whether you play sport on the weekends, train seriously, work in a physically demanding job or just want to move well and stay ahead of injury, we see a lot of active people at Langwarrin Family Chiropractic. We don’t just look at where it hurts. We look at how the whole body is moving and what might have led to the injury in the first place. That’s the difference between a recovery that lasts and one that doesn’t.
Injuries don’t usually happen in isolation. A sore shoulder, a niggling hip or a knee that keeps flaring up often has a bigger story. In how the body is moving, how load is being distributed, or a restriction somewhere that’s been quietly causing problems. We also look at joints beyond that spine including shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles because many limb injuries have a broader cause that gets missed when you only treat the sore spot.
What we commonly see:
Strained muscles or tweaked joints that aren’t settling
The same injury that keeps coming back
A niggle that is affecting training or how you play
Shoulders, hips or knees that aren’t moving the way they should
People that have been cleared medically but still don’t feel right
People wanting to get back to sport as quickly and safely as possible
People wanting to understand why an injury happened so it doesn’t happen again
-
Yes. We assess and treat joints throughout the body including shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Many injuries at these joints have connections to how the spine and the rest of the body is moving.
-
It usually means there’s an underlying cause that hasn’t been identified. Finding that cause is the most useful thing we can do because treating the injury sit alone rarely stops it happening again.
-
Yes! We see many children and teenagers involved in competitive and recreational sport. Young athletes have specific considerations around developing bodies and growth plates, and we adapt our assessment and care accordingly.
