Office work doesn’t feel physical but the body pays for it. Hours in the same position, a screen at the wrong height, a chair that doesn’t quite fit and the kind of tension that builds when your mind is busy but your body is still. Over time, this adds up in ways that can be surprisingly hard to shake. If you finish the day with a stiff neck, aching shoulders or a back that doesn’t feel right, then you are not alone and there’s usually a lot that can be done about it.
Sustained sitting puts the lower back under more pressure than most people realise. At the same time, looking at a screen pulls the head forward and for every inch the head moves forward, the load on the neck roughly doubles. Add in a few hours of that a day, five days a week and it’s easy to see how patterns develop. The neck, upper back, lower back and shoulders tend to bear the brunt. Headaches are also common, because the upper neck and head are so closely connected.
What we commonly see:
Back or neck aches especially in the afternoon, after sitting for most of the day
Tension headaches that build over the course of the day
Tight shoulders and upper back
Head sitting forward to your shoulders
Working for home setup’s not being ideal
Tightness that eases with stretching but always comes back

Mild pain that’s been there for a while is worth looking at. Patterns that start mild tend to become more persistent over time.
